Things to do

The Oceanside Pier - is one of the longest wooden piers on the west coast, 1,942 feet. Grab a bite to eat at the end of the pier or just hang out and watch the surfers and fishermen. There is an amphitheater at the entrance of the pier which hosts many cultural and musical performances.

Pier View South - The most popular of the Oceanside California Beaches. As its name implies, it is located just south of the pier. Crowds can be large because there is a lot going on here. Paid parking lots, volleyball, covered picnic tables, fire rings, a playground, public restrooms and showers. You might see body surfing, surfing and body boarding contests during the summer.

Pier View North - Just north of the pier and less crowded than Pier View South, generally has a more relaxed atmosphere. Behind the beach is the Oceanside Community Recreation Center. This beach has more sand than the south side, restrooms, showers, picnic tables, grills and volleyball. Paid and metered parking is available.

Breakwater Way - is Oceanside's largest beach with 8 lifeguard towers. Volleyball courts are there but you need to bring your own ball and net. Picnic tables, grills, restrooms and showers are available. There is metered parking along Pacific Street and there is a paid parking lot off Pacific Street but it's a little bit farther away.

Oceanside Boulevard Beach - Parking available on Pacific Street and neighboring streets. No restrooms here. The beachfront is lined with private homes facing the ocean and there is a very large rock that sits about 300 feet south of the lifeguard, which can be seen at low tide.

Buccaneer Beach - Oceanside's smallest beach. It is the southern most public beach with Carlsbad a mile to the south. Across the street is Buccaneer Beach Park where you'll find a large grassy area, jungle gym, snack bar, restrooms, gazebo, basketball court, picnic tables and barbeque grills.

Tyson Street Beach & Park - is within walking distance to the Oceanside Pier. The park is great for picnics because it is just a few feet from the beach. There is a restroom, shower and a public phone. No surfing here! Metered parking is available on Pacific Street. There is a large grassy area with picnic tables, a playground and walking paths.

Wisconsin Street Beach - is Oceanside's least frequented beach because it is very narrow. The best time to visit this beach is during low tide when the beach is actually wide enough to take a walk on.
