Educational, Interesting and FUN!

There is so much more to California Aquariums than world-class exhibits. The behind-the-scenes tours and aquarium adventures let you dive deeper! Some of these aquariums provide sailing, diving and even sleepovers!

Exhibits include: sharks, tunas, sea otters, sardines, octopus, seahorses, jelly fish, sea turtles, puffins and much more. It’s awesome to stand in front of a huge window and watch them swim by.

Discover an underwater forest. You’ll get a diver’s-eye-view of wolf-eels, leopard sharks, sardines and a bunch of other fishes, just like they do in the wild, weave through swaying fronds of kelp.

Ever wanted to touch a shark or an eel? Most of these Aquariums have exhibits where you can do just that! Kids love it! I'm not a kid, but I love it too!

Heads Up!

It's very possible to save money on tickets to these aquariums. You just have to do a tiny bit of research. I've done most of it for you! Some of these aquariums qualify for a GoCityCard or CityPass. If you click on each aquarium to learn more about it, I'll let you know if that aquarium qualifies.

Don’t forget your camera! Aquariums offer the potential for some truly stunning photos. But with the water, subtle lighting and windows it can be challenging to get the photos you’ll brag about.

So here are some tips: Use a digital camera, learn how to work the controls before you visit, instead of using the automated metering system in your camera, learn to use the feature called, “exposure compensation”, not all cameras have this feature but if yours does, you’ll want to use it. Oh and one last tip, learn how to turn your flash on and off.
